Kim’s Story

The Journey Behind The Work

A woman with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing a blue blouse and silver earrings, standing outdoors beside a tree with her arms crossed, smiling at the camera with a park and green trees in the background.

Leadership Starts Within

When I think about leadership, I think about a tree.

What we see—the way we communicate, make decisions, influence others, navigate change, and show up under pressure—are the trunk and branches.

Beneath it all is what we can’t always see: our values, experiences, beliefs, patterns, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence. Those are our roots.

The stronger and more grounded the roots, the more intentionally we can grow, adapt, and lead.

A healthy tree doesn’t grow by focusing only on what is visible.

Neither does a leader.

KC Leadership Group

I created KC Leadership Group to provide the kind of coaching and leadership work I believe leaders actually need. Not simply a place to talk. A place where someone understands the business context quickly, sees the dynamics beneath what is being said, tells the truth, challenges assumptions, and helps create movement.

My corporate experience taught me how complex leadership can be. I’ve experienced the pressure of leading, navigating change, making difficult decisions, and balancing business demands with the human side of leadership.

Coaching gave me a different lens. It created space to step back, see what I might not be seeing, challenge my own thinking, and make more intentional choices about how I wanted to move forward.

That is the space I want to create for others.

A place to think. A place to challenge. A place to grow. A place to lead from within.

It’s YOUR Turn!

It’s YOUR Turn! is a book I wrote from a more personal version of the same idea.

For many years, I was focused on achieving, leading, being responsible, and showing up for everyone around me. Somewhere along the way, I realized how easy it can be to become disconnected from your own voice while doing all the things you believe you’re supposed to do.

Writing the book gave me the opportunity to stop and ask some questions that are deceptively simple:

Who am I now? What really matters to me? What do I want the next chapter to look like?

Those questions changed the way I thought about my own life and leadership.

And they reinforced something I believe deeply:

Meaningful change starts from within.

The book and my leadership work come from that same belief. Before we can decide where we want to go, we have to be willing to pause, look inward, and understand where we are.

Your Next Chapter Starts Within

Leadership isn’t about becoming someone different.

It’s about becoming more intentional about who you are, what matters to you, and how you choose to lead.

Whether you’re navigating a new role, leading through change, rethinking what’s next, or simply sensing that it’s time to lead differently, the first step is often looking inward.

If you’re ready to explore what’s possible, let’s start there.

Let’s start a conversation about what’s next for you and how we can work together.
